Hey, hey! I’m Erin!
First things first, I’m a human who is doing her best to navigate this life and I truly believe that you being here means you’re doing the same. I am an avid therapy go’er, an unwavering optimist, and someone who genuinely loves connecting with others.
For me, adulthood came with great intentions and big dreams…
University came and went and I accepted my first elementary teaching job. Career: check.
I met my husband and we were married soon after. Life partner: check.
We purchased a home. Stability: check.
I gave birth to beautiful twins. Children: check.
On paper everything looked great, but life isn’t a credit card commercial and checking the box simply wasn’t enough. In the midst of trying to build a life, I realized that I never really learned how to navigate life’s ups and downs.
In time, and with the help of therapy I’ve come to understand that we all experience defining events that influence our perception of ourselves, others, and the world we live in. For example, having a strained relationship with my father in childhood and losing him in my early 20’s made it hard for me to feel secure in relationships and to feel worthy of love. Or, how giving birth to premature twins made it difficult to bond and fully lean into the role of being their mama.
Through self-compassion, I’ve learned to honour these life events and the emotions that accompany them. I’ve learned that I can tolerate uncomfortable emotions and that I don’t need to sit in those emotions at all times.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist, a former elementary school teacher, a wife, a mama, a sister, a daughter, and a friend.
Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, I had the pleasure of teaching elementary school for more than 10 years, where I specialized in special needs education. Teaching the next generation was amazing and helped build my communication skills, ability to build and maintain relationships, and increased my understanding of different family dynamics.
In 2019, I opened the doors to my private practice where I have been able to support adults by providing client centered, individually tailored, and integrated care that honours the interconnectedness between the mind and body.
